To be fair in the 1950′s there were a lot of problems in American society. I seem to recall some furor in the 60′s…
Oh, sure, it was brutal in many ways, but economically things were happening and small businesses were thriving and obesity was hardly typical.
“The food was terrible and such small portions” A Woody Allen line ,comes to my mind . Food is chemically designed to be great and it is so cheap to manufacture they give large portions to make the customers happy/come back.
