From the Facebook group,
“International Women’s Day will be one hundred years old on March 8, 2010. The WOMEN OF DIVERSE ORIGINS (WDO) network, true to its tradition, will mark the centennial of women’s activism throughout the year.
WOMEN OF DIVERSE ORIGINS (FDO-WDO) has organized International Women’s Day events for close to ten years, and calls on women and their supporters to join under the theme : For a Global Militant Women’s Movement in the 21st Century!
According to the collective: “We are taking to the streets to celebrate and show our solidarity with the daily struggles of women everywhere, with oppressed peoples and communities, here on occupied indigenous land, and around the world. During this centennial year, we are reaffirming our need to unite from one end of the planet to the other in the struggle for a better world where injustice towards women has no place. This is the meaning of our theme this year.”

IN THE FUTURE:
An International conference in Montreal on August 13-16, 2010.
Building upon the links we have established over the past nine years and in coordination with a vibrant global women’s network, WOMEN OF DIVERSE ORIGINS is hosting an International Women’s Conference in Montreal in August. This conference will bring together women from around the world active in their communities and in their institutions and on the frontlines of struggles against imperialist globalization, war and violence against women. We will hear from women resisting conservative, fundamentalist and reactionary policies and defending women’s and human rights in houses of Parliaments to women active in the Parliament of the streets.
The conference will culminate with the establishment of an International Women’s Alliance. The final program and the guest speakers will be announced later this spring.
