Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

Was sadly interrupted by the death of a young man. My condolences to family and friends.

It rained, and rained more. But the day was really a tribute to the spirit of Montrealers willing to get wet and join in the fun at this wonderful annual event. I arrived late but hooked up with the Griffintown Horse Palace folks at Stanley street and joined them the rest of the way. Didn’t hear about the tragedy until much later at home.

It occurred to me today that one of the reasons this is such a great tradition is the utter lack of pretense and commercialism. There are no Wal Mart floats, or huge in your face corporate ads, just ordinary people, and often in home made get ups and worn once a year clothes. I hope it stays that way!

Ok, so I am obsessed, the devil made me do it, can’t resist, anyway, see you next year!!!
